It’s Sunday June 25th, 2023 and I noticed a new project that’s gaining momentum quickly on Github.
GPT-Engineer stirs the imagination of what will become possible with Auto GPTs.

Specify what you want it to build, the AI asks for clarification, and then builds it. GPT Engineer is made to be easy to adapt, extend, and make your agent learn how you want your code to look. It generates an entire codebase based on a prompt.
The gpt-engineer community is building the open platform for devs to tinker with and build their personal code-generation toolbox.

So far as Auto-GPT experiments go, this one is racking up a lot of Github stars very quickly in June, 2023.

GPT Engineer is a tool that allows users to specify what they want it to build, and then the AI will ask for clarification and generate the codebase accordingly. It is designed to be easy to customize and make the agent learn the desired code.
At the time of writing it’s up to 32k stars on GitHub, so it’s getting some buzz.
Nothing more to say yet, although this might develop into a startup that way it’s going.

An interesting take on AI. Sadly, when we are told we are better off without jobs and can do the things we love, there is a problem. Money! Businesses will always be happy to employ fewer people and replace them with technology, those people don’t get paid.
We have heard this argument since mechanisation. Years ago, in a growing economy, people could find work that machines couldn’t do. Now, AI threatens all those jobs. It’s not a good thing. Many of the AI promoters are often those most likely to be replaced!
