Hey Everyone,
You may not have noticed but Neeva, one of the alternative search engines recently just announced Neeva A.I.
Neeva is an app you download with privacy focused non-invasive no Ads experience. It requires a monthly subscription, currently $4.95/month after a generous free trial. Like a You.com and others it is integrating Generative A.I. into its search experience a few months before Bing is announcing its ChatGPT feature expected in March, 2023.
Generative A.I. on Neeva
People on Twitter are trying it out:
What if you could get a synthesized, up-to-date answer with the power of AI? ChatGPT is a revolutionary product, but it has two drawbacks: it doesn't provide sources or references, so it's hard to know if the answer is credible (fact-verification), and it doesn't return real-time data (on web data).
Now in Beta launch, when you search with Neeva, NeevaAI shows a synthesized, single answer summarizing and citing the most relevant websites for your search.
I’ve covered Perplexity A.I., Chatsonic, YouChat with You.com, and this is also impressive. ChatGPT is stimulating the future of search and how Google itself will decide to embed LaMDA for the public in 2023 or 2024.
The company claims NeevaAI is leading a new frontier of AI search that leverages cutting edge LLMs and an independent search stack to create a unique and transformative search experience.
Sridhar Ramaswamy is a cofounder of Neeva and he’s really interesting to follow in the Generative A.I. era.
What does it Do?
NeevaAI solves these problems by providing a synthesized answer embedded with citations, so you can check the sources. Through combining the most advanced AI with Neeva's in-house search stack, results are lightning fast, timely, and relevant to current information.
See it in Action
What comes out of ChatGPT, the evolution of Search and the move away from Advertising may be the most critical part of the Conversational A.I. era. The thing is Microsoft, Apple and Amazon want to get even more into advertising which is a cash cow for their other R&D.
Premium Search - Accuracy with A.I.
As the subscription economy takes shape, I wonder if more consumers will start to pay for a better search experience?
AI is the search LLM you want if you think the following are a priority:
𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 sources
𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 info
forever 𝐚𝐝-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞
totally 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞
While duckduckgo had some momentum back in the day, I’m more impressed now with Neeva, You.com, Perplexity A.I. and new kinds of search popping up including ChatGPT and davinci-003 (OpenAI) based systems.
Neeva are relatively well funded with $77.5 million in funding. It’s certainly a privacy and ad-free accentuated experience. The moat of Google could finally crack of ChatGPT and LaMDA itself provide us with more options, Google is damned if you do and damned if you don’t with this.
While Microsoft and Google seem to have the inside track with Generative A.I, we have to hope that some of the startups pave their own path and don’t just give in to commercial pressure the way OpenAI did basically abandoning its early stage ideology that was respectable.
NeevaAI is available to anyone in the U.S. with other markets to follow very soon. U.S. account holders have immediate access to NeevaAI: everyone else can gain access by creating an account here.
🌑 The reality is the internet is trapped in a dark age of legacy social, search and walled garden experience. Bing hijacking the fame of ChatGPT isn’t necessarily going to change this as Microsoft is itself using its software services domination to keep ahead and push down rivals. Bing simply hasn’t evolved into a legit rival to Google, and is not likely to do so anytime soon.
In the PR Neeva is also saying some of the most cliche remarks. For instance:
The introduction of accessible AI such as the recent explosion of ChatGPT represents one of the most exciting technological advances since the iPhone.
NeevaAI provides summaries with sources. Neeva shows a synthesized single answer summarizing the most relevant sites to a query. Importantly, references and citations are directly embedded in the answer, enabling users to determine the authenticity and trustworthiness of the sources cited.
Ramaswamy worked his way through Google’s engineering ranks over a 15-year period, emerging as senior vice president and the driving force behind Google’s $100 billion-plus ads and commerce business. He might know a thing or two about the future of Search.
But the name “Neeva” sounds like an Indian Restaurant. Google says Neeva is Gujarati Girl name and meaning of this name is "Blue; Radiance". I’m not sure I have the time or the money to download a blue radiant search engine. But perhaps you do.
NeevaAI triggers on the majority of searches, and that number will grow in the coming months. I am overall impressed with how You.com, Neeva, Perplexity and other search and chatbots are integrating Generative A.I., which is much more significant than the more cosmetic uses of Adobe, Canva and others.
The Beta of NeevaAI came with a Twitter thread:
In the ChatGPT era, sadly this is how you do marketing. The thread is filled with empty Marketing lingo that isn’t saying anything substantial.
So let’s turn instead to the user tweets around the Beta:
I agree with this user that the selling point is that it’s based on real-time data, well of course it is it’s an actual search-engine.
Anyways guys what do you think? There’s a ton of marketing fluff here, as Neeva and others scramble to find their place in a Conversational A.I. and Generative A.I. world.
