Late to the game but overtime Apple will be a big player in AI because of the sheer size of the addressable market and Apple having the biggest moat in the business. They call the latter a fortress balance sheet for good reason.

Thank you Eric. If I'm a $3 Trillion cap company I'm uniquely able to leverage the latest trends in technology I'm assuming too. Their moats and services really have absurd advantages if their LLM model quality and training is world class.

What would a "ChatGPT" consumer product by Apple even look like I wonder?

I mean, on the one hand, Apple is pretty far behind here. They're entering the public fray more than a year and a half after the initial mania, and a first-mover advantage seems to really matter with this technology.

On the other hand, AAPL is, as you rightly point out, full of cash. Leveraging a $3TN+ market cap is going to mean access to the best researchers in the world, amazing "labs" for experimentation, and no shortage of great minds working on this thing. I, for one, will not be sleeping on this.
